From Start-Up to Scale-Up: 7 years of Predictive Biology with iMEAN
As we step into the new year, all of us at iMEAN would like to extend our warmest wishes for a joyous and prosperous 2025 to all our partners, collaborators, and community.
This September 2025, iMEAN celebrates its 7th anniversary, a milestone that underlines our steady upward trajectory in delivering modelling and predictive services.
We’re in the trajectory to reach 1M€ in sales with a growth of more than 30% compared to last year and being breakeven for the third year. A clear signal that our technology, team, and partnerships are delivering high value for now our 43 clients.
Building on Strong Foundations and Collaboration to Maturity
Over the past seven years, iMEAN has grown from a vision/perspective rooted in systems biology and computational modelling, to a full-grown company delivering high-value predictive tools and biological models.
Over the past year, we conducted 103 projects across agriculture, environmental biotech, and health. Thus, we accumulated an unique expertise to mount valuable projects for our clients.
Among key achievements this year are:
- applying modelling to deliver improvements in crop traits and biosolutions for 5 different agroecosystems;
- a strong involvement in industrial biotechnology with 7 full services (Digital Boost) providing predictive models that pair with build & test workflows. this integrated offering enhances experimental design efficiency and shortens development cycles.
- 6 trainning session have been done to empower our customers in mastering modellling.
Acing Modelling Capabilities, joined with advances in Software & Databases
To support our growing client base and increasingly complex modelling tasks, we heavily invested in our computational Infrastructure. Indeed, more than 60% of our R&D investments were dedicated to plants and trees modelling. Also, a strong R&D effort was done to deliver highly sophisticated regulatory networks.
Also, several customers trust us to build their strategic digital infrastructure, like:
- interface and software tools for visualisation, simulation and interpretation of models, making outputs more accessible to non-modellers.
- tailor-made database with interface for experimental data processing and integrity management, and even analysis interface.
- Develpment of new modules in our Process Simulation Software

Our Values & Culture: What Underpins our Success
While numbers and projects are essential, what truly distinguishes iMEAN is how we work.
Seven years in, we remain committed to:
- Delivering high‐quality, scientifically rigorous models that are also usable, relevant and timely.
- Prioritizing client trust and transparency—sharing assumptions, uncertainties, and being responsive.
- Investing in our team: in expertise, in well-being, and in cultivating a culture where innovation, interdisciplinarity, and curiosity are rewarded.
- Being agile, able to fast troubleshoot any issues encountered during the projects.
The Road ahead
As iMEAN enters its eighth year, we are focused on scaling both our technology and our reach:
- Further our modelling and simulation workflows, enabling faster, more scalable predictions across a growing range of applications.
- Expanding our software and database features, with several customer infrastructure projects in 2026 with stronger integration into client data systems, more interactive tools, and enhanced visualization.
- Deepening our international presence beyond Europe, building on early engagements in Brazil, focused on sustainable agriculture, environmental biotech, and bio-based product screening, and in Japan, where high-precision modelling, regulatory and safety applications, and sustainable agrifood solutions are driving demand. These initiatives mark an important step in establishing iMEAN as a global player worldwide.
The past seven years show iMEAN’s evolution from a promising startup into a mature biotech modelling company, with solid revenues, growing international reach, and strong technology infrastructure. As we celebrate this anniversary, we express our gratitude to all partners, clients, and the iMEAN team, it is your trust and collaboration that make this possible.
Here’s to many more years of predictive biology driving real-world impact.
