iMEAN Welcomes Laura Giorla as a Life Sciences Engineering Intern
We’re pleased to announce that Laura Giorla has joined iMEAN as a Life Sciences Engineering Intern! Laura is currently completing her Master’s degree studies at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where she explores the intersection of biology, engineering, and computational sciences.

Her academic background is firmly interdisciplinary: from biology and chemistry to mathematics, physics, and computer science. For her bachelor project at EPFL, she applied molecular modelling to approximate the binding energy of a ligand-protein interaction, an experience that sharpened her interest in computational biomedical tools.
This unique blend of life sciences and engineering knowledge resonates with iMEAN’s mission to design innovative computational solutions for biotechnology and medicine.
Over the next six months, Laura will immerse herself in iMEAN’s research activities, contributing to the development of computational and modelling approaches applyed to immune systems. This internship is also an opportunity for her to gain hands-on experience in the professional world while expanding her expertise in biological systems and mathematical modelling.
We’re eager to see the outcomes of Laura’s contributions over the coming months.
Welcome aboard, Laura!
